APPLICATION. Brush or cloth

DRYING TIME. 24 hours between coats, 4 days final
TOOL CLEANING. White Spirit

  • Product use
Liberon Pure Tung Oil is highly resistant to water, alcohol and food acids. Providing a hard wearing finish it is ideal for surfaces such as kitchen worktops, tables and all high quality interior wood. Pure Tung Oil, with no added dryers, is a natural, non-toxic product which can be used on toys and objects in contact with food such as salad bowls etc. Being a penetrating oil it allows the wood to age gracefully and develop a natural patina. Recommended for use on exterior oak.
  • Preparation
Ensure the wood surface is bare: remove any wax finishes with Liberon Wax and Polish Remover and any varnish finishes with Liberon Fine Wood Stripper. Clean, dry and ensure the surface is dust free.
  • Application
Apply Tung Oil using a brush or lint-free cotton cloth. For ease of application dilute the first one or two coats with up to 50% white spirit. Allow the oil to penetrate for 20 to 30 minutes then wipe off the excess oil using a clean lint-free cloth. Allow to dry for 24 hours between coats.
Apply further coats of Tung Oil as above, reducing the amount of white spirit used with subsequent coats. Again allow 24 hours to dry.
Apply the last one or two coats of Tung Oil undiluted, as in previous applications. After the final coat has been applied and excess removed leave for 24 hours and wipe over again to aid drying and remove any oil that may have surfaced. We recommend a minimum of 4 coats; more coats will be required for porous or external surfaces. For best results gently rub with Liberon Ultra Fine Steel Wool (0000) between coats.
Leave for a few days before use to allow the Pure Tung Oil to dry fully. Furniture items may be finished with Liberon Black Bison Wax for an improved lustre.
Important: Oil finishes bring out the natural colours of timber. A wet surface will be an indication of the final colour. Always test product on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for colour, compatibility and end result.
  • Cleaning and maintenance
Pure Tung Oil must be maintained on a regular basis. Apply at least once or twice a year or more if required, depending upon exposure to the weather and usage. On exposed external timbers it is important to apply sufficient coats of oil to give the initial protection.
Precautions

  • Tung Oil is extracted from nuts and may cause an allergic reaction.

  • Store Liberon Tung Oil at a temperature above 5 °C. Always replace the lid otherwise the oil can deteriorate.

  • Oily cloths can self combust. Do not leave impregnated cloths in bundles. Before discarding lay them flat outside to dry to avoid a fire hazard.

  • If the excess is not removed and the surface becomes sticky, wipe with white spirit to remove the sticky film and allow to dry before continuing.
  • Packaging
Pure Tung Oil is available in 250ml, 500ml, 1L and 5L containers.

TOOL CLEANING. White Spirit.
  • Product use
The original oil polish with a tradition going back many centuries, Raw Linseed Oil is a hard wearing oil giving a mellow, patinated finish. It is ideal for oiling cricket bats and can be added to other oils to make unique blends.
  • Preparation
Ensure the surface to be treated is clean and dry. Any previous finish must be thoroughly removed before using Raw Linseed Oil.
Application
For ease of application dilute the first few coats with Liberon Pure Turpentine (up to 30%), or alternatively heat the Raw Linseed Oil by placing it in a container and standing it in a bowl of hot water that can be frequently renewed. If heating the Raw Linseed Oil, DO NOT dilute with turpentine.
Rub well into the wood using a lint-free cotton cloth. After about 20-30 minutes wipe off the excess with a clean lint-free cloth. Failure to do so will prevent penetration of future coats and leave a sticky surface. Repeat the previous steps once or twice at a few days interval. Apply a final coat of undiluted Raw Linseed Oil, again wiping off any excess. Allow this final coat to harden for a few days before use. A minimum of three coats is recommended.
A light rubbing in between coats with Liberon Ultra Fine Steel Wool (0000) will improve results. If the surface becomes damaged, work in a new coat.
Important: Oil finishes bring out the natural colours of timber. A wet surface will be an indication of the final colour. Always test product on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for colour, compatibility and end result.
  • Cleaning and maintenance
Wipe surface with a damp cloth and buff dry. Re-oil as and when required, depending upon usage.
Precautions

  • Store Liberon Raw Linseed Oil at a temperature above 5 °C. Always replace the lid otherwise the oil can deteriorate.

  • Oily cloths can self combust. Do not leave impregnated cloths in bundles. Before discarding lay them flat outside to dry to avoid a fire hazard.

  • If the excess is not removed and surface becomes sticky, wipe with white spirit to remove the sticky film and allow to dry before continuing.

USAGE. Interior.

COVERAGE. 1 Litre. 8- 10 m2.

APPLICATION. Brush or cloth.

DRYING TIME. 24 hours between coats, 24 hours final.

TOOL CLEANING. White Spirit.
  • Product use
Liberon Boiled Linseed Oil is used to give a mellow, patinated finish to new or stripped bare wood. A superior quality oil, similar to Raw Linseed, but having had hot air passed through to improve drying times, it is suitable for use on all types of wood, except exterior oak. It is also recommended as a sealer for terracotta tiles and other porous surfaces before waxing.
  • Preparation
Ensure that the surface to be treated is clean and dry. Any previous finish must be thoroughly removed before using Boiled Linseed Oil.
  • Application
For ease of application dilute the first few coats with Liberon Pure Turpentine (up to 30%).
Rub well into the wood using a lint free cotton cloth. After about 20 minutes, wipe off the excess with a clean lint-free cloth. Failure to do so will prevent penetration of future coats and leave a sticky surface. Repeat the previous steps once or twice at 24 hour intervals. Apply a final coat of Boiled Linseed Oil, again wiping off any excess. Allow this final coat to harden for a few days before use. A light rubbing in between coats with Liberon Ultra Fine Steel Wool (0000) will improve results. If the surface becomes damaged, work in a new coat.
  • Important: Oil finishes bring out the natural colours of timber. A wet surface will be an indication of the final colour. Always test product on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for colour, compatibility and end result.
  • Cleaning and maintenance
Wipe surface with a damp cloth and buff dry. Re-oil as and when required depending upon usage.
Precautions

  • Store Liberon Boiled Linseed Oil at a temperature above 5 °C.

Packaging
Boiled Linseed Oil is available in 250ml, 500ml, 1L and 5L containers.
